8 Month Birthday Post

On February 10th Chloe turned 8 months old! It truely is a joy to be near her. So often I catch myself just staring at her and praising the LORD for the fun, happy, healthy little girl He has blessed us with.

Here are some of the things Chloe has been learning this past month:

- Chloe has had a very active tongue from early on, lately she has been sticking it out and moving it back and forth horizontally. Just recently she figured out how to add noise to her wiggling tongue and makes these noises quite frequently. She gets the cutest look on her face if someone does it back.

- Speaking of mouth noises, Chloe also figured out how to make the "rasberry" sound by blowing air out between her lips. (you can hear it a little in the movie I put up at the end.)
- For awhile now when Chloe and I pass a mirror we say "Hi" and wave to the "friend" in the mirror. We also wave hi and bye to people that we see and when we say goodnight to daddy. One day several weeks ago she all of a sudden caught on to the idea and began waving on her own. She has two different waves, sometimes it's her whole arm moving up and down and flopping a bit at the wrist, sometimes she just bends her hand up and down at the wrist. It's so cute. It's fun to see peoples reactions when they wave at her and then realize she's waving back.

- When Chloe finishes nursing I say "alldone?" and I do the sign (american sign language) at the same time. Just recently I have noticed her attempting to do it. It doesn't look much like what I'm doing, but she responds to my "all done" with a move of her hand and I know she's attempting to copy mama.

- Pointing to things in books. I haven't noticed her pointing anywhere else yet, but she loves to sit while I read to her and point to whatever catches her eye.

Talking to the "friend" in the mirror
"who needs all those fancy toys when they make glass bottles?"
Funny story behind this picture. This was the night of John MacArthurs 40th Anniversary at Grace Community Church. We had a big celebration after evening service and coke bottles were handed out. As we wandered around chatting with people, and in between sips, Brian let Chloe play with a suck on his bottle. (No He never even gave her a sip:) We don't know if it was the fumes or the little bit that she licked off the bottle but later that night when she normally would have been quite sleepy, we had the most hyper, talkative little baby on our hands that we'd ever seen. Brian and I laughed and decided that we probably should steer our little girl clear of coke, even coke fumes, in the future.
Chloe loves to sit and play with her toys.
First time wearing shoes!

From early on Brian has had a bedtime tradition with Chloe. As he hugs her goodnight he says "can I have a smoochie?" and puts his cheek near her mouth. Chloe opens her mouth wide and puts it on his face. As soon as she does it Brian exclaims "thank you so much! Can I have another one?" Chloe gets a big grin on her face and then they precede to do the same thing on the other cheek. She has done this for months now and at first I know that she only did it because shes a baby and babies open their mouths to anything that gets near them. Their kinda like baby birdies at times :). Anyway, just recently I realized that I think Chloe understands this ritual more than she used to. There have been times when she's extra grumpy that she has actually refused to give daddy his "smoochie" but more often than not she seems quite willing to enjoy this little tradition. I know that mommies often see things differently than the rest of the world so I finally got it on video and I'll let you decide for yourself.

Chloe is just too cute :), and I agree with you, she knows she's giving Daddy kisses. Baby kisses are the best!
