Thankful November #12 A getaway with my hubby

Thankful November #12

Brian and I feel that it is very important to get away alone together every now and again. We also love the time with just each other! However there hasn't been a lot of extra money to spend on getaways. There hasn't even been extra money to really save for a future getaway so we had resigned ourselves to the fact that we couldn't afford that right now... UNTIL!! My sister and her husband gave us a brilliant idea, CAMPING! Brian and I both love camping, but i guess in our minds it was just something that families did all together, so it hadn't occurred to us to make a camping trip a getaway! But we did! And I'm so thankful we did! It was a beautiful weekend, the weather wasn't too hot, the campground was nice, and most of all we got lots of one on one time. Building the fire together (being pyros), making food together, roasting marshmallows together, laughing, talking, reminiscing, praying. Sweet alone time and fellowship with my very best friend!

Our campsite

My Man, using his flint to light the fire. He actually got it to work a little despite the damp tinder and wood from rain the previous night.

I got it in my head that fondue would be fun/romantic to do and it was super yummy! Probably could have gone with something more simple like hot dogs.

Camp all set up.

Brian has a nifty little tiny stove that just screws to the top of a propane can. Viola! boiling water!

Silly man!

aw!

aaaaaawwwwwww!

Like i said, silly man!

Brian was in charge of breakfast!

We had eggs and sausage and some potatoes that had slowly cooked above the coals all night

He did an amazing job seasoning it all! He always does!

"Tending the fire"

being a pyro

Mmmm!!!! Breakfast!

My favorite place to have my hand!

Enjoying some coffee after breakfast.

Trying to throw a marsh mallow in the air and catch it with his mouth. Once again: Silly man! :)

Brian took this one to make it look like he laid around while I cleaned up. :)

Fishing time!

If there had been a 2nd pole and if we had spent the money on a 2nd license I would have tried my hand at fishing (its been awhile since I've had the chance) but it was so relaxing to just sit and relax, enjoy the water and the breeze and watch the fun my husband was having, that I didn't mind at all.
