Two Months Old!!

The time has flown by and it's hard for me to believe that two months have already gone since little Chloe was born. One thing that makes it very obvious though is how much she's changed and grown. I'm constantly amazed at how quickly she went from an unresponsive tiny newborn to a lively cooing smiling baby. We're so thankful to the Lord for a healthy, growing, lively fun little baby girl. All the praise goes to HIM!!

Some of Chloe's two month milestones:

"Talking": Whether she's happy or sad Chloe will often "tell me about it" with coos and ahhhs and smiles or frowns. One of my favorite things to do is prop her up on my lap and ask her to "tell mama a story". It's amazing to see the way she'll respond and interact as we "talk" about different things.

Tasting: Chloe has realized that she has hands and they are often in our near her mouth. It's so cute to watch her "taste" them. She's not at the point yet where she tries to fit the whole thing in her mouth but she'll put her little fist up to her lips often times her index finger is slightly extended and she licks away very contentedly, making sucking and smacking noises. When it gets close to eating time those noises usually get quite a bit louder and more forceful.

Holding onto objects: I almost included this is last months post because she started doing so soon after she turned one month old, but I decided to wait. Chloe has a little soft Nemo rattle that a friend gave her, I put it in her hand one day and she hung onto it for probably close to 5 minutes. It was so cute I had to get a little video on my phone. Here it is:

Batting at objects: Chloe has a little chair that I lay her in, hanging above her is a lady bug and Nemo. At first she simply stared at the bright colors but one day I watched her bat at the lady bug and then get very excited as she watched it swing in front of her. Just recently when I'm talking to her I've noticed that she reaches her hand toward my face too!!
(I took this little video after she started to get tired tired of the ladybugs company, but she still hits it a couple times.)

Tracking people: I read just recently that at 8 weeks old Chloe can now focus at things up to 10 feet away. This amazed me because just a few short weeks ago it was only 18 inches! I was not incredibly surprised however because I've been seeing that she notices and watches movement from a good distance. She'll follow Brian and I with her eyes and even her head if need be. This makes life for Mama both fun and difficult. It's fun because I now get a smiling cooing greeting when I walk up to Chloe's cradle. It's difficult because I now have to force myself to walk away when she realizes I'm leaving her alone in her bed and lets out a very pitiful heartwrenching cry complete with the quivering bottom lip.

Recognizes faces: I sort of already mentioned this but another very fun aspect of Chloe's growth and developement is to be recognized by her and to watch her recognize her daddy. A day can get a little boring being alone with mama for the majority of it, so when daddy comes home it's great fun! I love to watch her little face light up as she "tells" him about her day.

Holding her head up: When I put Chloe on my shoulder to burp her she can now hold her head straight up with no support for a few minutes. It's getting stronger every day but is still a bit wobbly. It's fun to watch her eyes widen as she looks out at her surroundings and attemps to take in the huge world around her, well, at least the 10 feet that she can see:). Chloe also has what we call "tummy time" during this time she lays on her tummy and practices lifting her head off the floor. She tires of this very quickly but she is making progress, she can now lift it off the floor at about a 45 degree angle.

Bottle feeding: Even breastfed babies have to know how to drink from a bottle, in case mama ever can't be there at feeding time. Daddy got to do the honors of teaching this new talent because when I tried I got a look that said "What are you doing mama!? This is not how I eat!"

"Dad, What is this?"

"Ummm... Mom, where are you? Whats dad trying to do?"

" oh huh, theres milk in there."

"Ah, a full tummy!!"

Here are some other random pics that I've taken over the past month

I highly recommend a bottle once a week or so!! We made that mistake with Brennen (Jeremy was so busy with school) and he wouldn't take a bottle at all. Needless to say, we didn't get an evening out for a long long time. :-) She's growing so quickly. I can't wait until I can see her in person.
