A Story...(As told by the mirror)

Once upon a time a beautiful mirror was bought as a wedding gift for a young and very much in love couple... This couple rejoiced in the thoughtful beauty of this mirror and hung it in a centered place on the wall of their new home. The beautiful mirror was blissfully happy as it hung in it's new place, reflecting the joy of the newly married couple as they began to make a home together. But alas, the happiness of the mirror was about to be marred. One day as he proudly hung from his spot on the wall, he overheard the man telling his wife that the wall looked sadly bare with merely a mirror on it and he felt that it needed something to "compliment" it. The mirror was saddened to hear this mans thoughts and even more saddened to hear the wife vehemently agreeing.

Months went by, the mirror eventually began to agree with the couple on the sad lonely state of the wall with which he hung. One day as the husband and wife sat in their living room the mirror perked up when he heard the wife proclaiming "that's a brilliant idea babe! I love it!" he wished that he had been paying closer attention because now he did not understand to what she was referring. But, as more time went by he began to wonder if they had not finally come up with an idea to "compliment" him, because several times he reflected them back as they stood in front of him and talked about "lanterns" and how "... i think black would look best..." and something about not being "electric but just holding candles". More months went by, the mirror continued to hang alone in his solitary place on the wall, wondering if he would ever be graced with company. He often sparkled as the scenes in his living room became much more lively, a baby girl had joined the family and he loved to reflect her sweet little face as her mommy and daddy would play games with her using his glass. Eventually the family moved to a bigger home and still the mirror graced an even larger wall...alone.

Finally a day came when the mirror heard the wife talking excitedly to her husband about something she had found, he heard a strange word "ebay" several times over and wondered at the reason for this excitement. Several days later the wife ran into the house with a box and he heard her telling her husband later that "the lanterns came!" The weekend came and the mirror reflected an excited buz as the husband and wife seemed to be preparing for something. The mirror was shocked and pleased to discover that the excitement pertained to his "complimentory" somethings that he had long been anticipating. The holes were drilled and at last the husband and wife stepped back to proudly view the new additions to their wall. They were too busy to notice, but the mirror himself shone with an extra brightness as he delightedly surveyed the new "companions" that had been added to his domain.
He sighed deeply, the husband and wife had made a perfect choice and no longer was he alone....
