Yesterday our country re-elected President Obama and
I am thankful. No, I didn't vote for him. Yes, I am disappointed that he won... are you confused? Let me explain. While I was in the hospital during my pregnancy with Drew, my sister shared something with me that she learned from a sweet older lady that we know. She said, we aren't just supposed to look for "good things" to be thankful for amidst the "bad". We are to give thanks for everything. That means, even if we don't understand it, even if it's not at all what we want, we are to be thankful for it. Last night, as I felt the first pangs of disappointment i made a decision. I am going to be thankful for this. I am choosing to be thankful that President Obama won the election. [period] As, I sat on the couch thinking about this and holding my youngest baby. I looked at his sweet little face and I wondered what life will be like for our children when they become adults. But, instead of a feeling of dread that threatened to raise it's ugly head, do you know what emotion won out? Excitement! Does that surprise you? It did me at first. I just know that no matter what happens in the future, my God is in control. And with that knowledge comes peace and rest in His almighty plan.
This passage came to mind:
Phil 4:6-7 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Amazing what happens when we choose to be thankful huh?!!

I felt a burden for my children which led me to pray for them and their salvation and the next generation of believers. And praying for the salvation of the lost is always a good thing. Would I have been as burdened to pray had the other guy won? Probably not even though he is not a Christian either. We have not known great opposition in our lifetime here in the states, but I think we will more and more. And in persecution, true believers will stand for the Truth and bring Him glory. That is something to rejoice in!
So true! Thank you Victoria!
